Cultural Evenings

Each term we are inviting you to an event that is to explore a different aspect of Central European Culture. Those events will usually be a talk, an exhibition, a conference, or a performance. Cultural aspects explored might be anything from national cuisines, to deep historical analysis; from contemporary artists, to folk costumes. We are looking forward to seeing you in our event!

For Hilary 2017, we would like to cordially invite you to a soirée with Professor Mark Cornwall, who will give us a talk named "Treason in the Habsburg Empire".

Professor Cornwall is a historian from the University of Southampton and a visiting fellow of All Souls College. His research has concentrated especially on the late Habsburg monarchy, analysing its stability and its disintegration in the First World War. He has also spent many years researching modern Czech history, with a focus on Czech-German relations, the Sudeten German question, and LGBT Czech-German culture in the early twentieth century. A book signing session will follow the event.

The event will be hosted on Monday the 20th November, Week VII; at 18.00, the location is to be appointed.

This event is open to all, and kindly supported by Blackwell's.
